Many of you would be aware the QHA was formed in 1885, and I feel privileged to be writing the first postpandemic Pub Talk of the 21st century. Hotel operators have always shown great reliance in the face of disaster, and in Queensland we have had more than our fair share. The way this virus has affected the hospitality industry has been crippling and will have a lasting impact for years to come. You are all to be commended on your ability to adapt your business to operate under the COVID-19 restrictions and I wish you every success as we continue to move through this period of great uncertainty.

QHA Resources

The QHA, along with all our industry partners, continue to be at your service throughout the pandemic. Please reach out if there is anything we can assist with. The network through your industry Association is more important than ever to connect you to information and services you need to remain compliant and viable through these unprecedented trading conditions.

QHA Events

Thank you to the hoteliers and industry partners who attended the QHA Gold Coast Region Hoteliers Breakfast at the newly renovated Robina Pavilion (formerly Robina Tavern). The meeting was attended by 80 guests and was a great opportunity to network at our first face-to-face meeting following the COVID-19 lockdown. Special thank you to Barry Fitzgibbons, Damien Stephen and the team at Robina Pavilion for hosting the meeting, and to PFD Food Services for their generous support of the breakfast. Make sure you have a look at the renovations at the venue if you are on the Gold Coast – they have done and amazing job! You can also check out our recent story on the Robina Pavillion at QHA online (at qha.org.au/feature-robina-pavilion/

The next QHA Hoteliers Meeting will be held in Toowoomba on Wednesday 16th September. Information for this meeting will be sent to all hoteliers in the region closer to the date.

Don’t forget the QHA Race Day will be held at the Gold Coast Turf Club this year on Wednesday 30th September.

NOTE: Potential travellers should check the status of individual events and establishments with regard to the coronavirus outbreak.
