FOR THE LOVE OF…

Who doesn’t love their local? And now it is a chance for your patrons to show just how much.

Thanks to Carlton & United Breweries (CUB), there’s assistance at hand to aid Queensland hotels survive the coronavirus crisis. CUB have teamed up with the QHA and AHA to launch For the Love of Your Local campaign.

The campaign calls on Queenslanders to visit www.loveofyourlocal.com.au then nominate their participating local and buy a pint of Great Northern Crisp. The cash goes to the venue immediately.

CUB then matches that purchase with a free pint, meaning people essentially get 2 for 1 pints when their local re-opens. CEO Peter Filipovic said: “This campaign is a win-win for pubs and clubs and for beer lovers.

“Some venues are facing the prospect of never opening their doors again if they don’t get cash flow. It is an unprecedented challenge, not even during the world wars or the Depression did the pubs close.

“But we know Australians want pubs and clubs to keep their place at the heart of many local communities once this crisis is over. So if you love your local, or just want to help save the great Aussie tradition of going to the pub, buy a pint of beer in their hour of need.”

For the Love of Your Local is not only running in Queensland but across the country. CUB, in partnership with the QHA and AHA, is committed to raising up to $1 million worth of support for local pubs and clubs through these challenging times. So far over $515,564 has been raised and more kegs may be dedicated to the cause if required. All patrons need to do is to buy a pint using PayPal to ensure venues get the money quickly and, when doors re-open, they’ll be emailed a voucher to exchange it for two pints.

Obviously, this crisis has hit hoteliers hard and this is a step in the right direction to assist everyone get back on their feet. As we all know, our local hotels are the backbone of our communities, particularly in regional and remote Queensland and we need to do everything in our power to keep members going. We would like to take this opportunity to thank CUB for running with this initiative.
