CLO VIDEO CONNECT. Customer Liaison Officer training is an industry workshop that assists venues and gaming staff to meet their legislative requirements, venue responsibilities and appropriate procedures to follow if a patron wishes to exclude themselves. Normally delivered in-house, we have developed this now as a half-day, face-to-face public course which we are delivering by video conferencing, which will allow any CLOs (or potential CLOs) from around Queensland to undertake. Scheduled for 12 April start.

UNDERSTANDING PROBLEM GAMBLING. We have partnered with Drake WorkWise, who are well known for delivering Employee Assistance Programs to a range of businesses nationally. They have developed a half-day workshop which supports the QHA’s ‘harm minimisation’ strategy around problem gambling. This is a public classroom-based module which will be held at the QHA Training Centre in Brisbane. The workshop is delivered by a registered psychologist and focuses upon understanding the key drivers to problem gambling, the impact on personal wellbeing and relationships, addiction behaviours, common signs and behavioural indicators. The workshop will be on 30 March next.

DEVELOPING HOTEL MANAGEMENT SKILLS. DHMS training is back on our training Calendar after a COVID hiatus. Long-time hotelier and industry consultant Peter Hall will be back to deliver his two-day DHMS workshop. This training provides participants with a greater understanding of their venue as a total business entity and takes an in-depth approach to all business facets from wages and stock control through to profitability factors and promotions. It is ideal for all levels of management from ’supervisors with potential’ through to experienced managers/licensees. DHMS training is scheduled for 15-16 March next.
