The Waste Reduction and Recycling (Plastic Items) Amendment Bill 2020 was introduced to enable a ban on the supply of single-use plastic straws, cutlery, plates and stirrers.
The bill was referred to the Natural Resources, Agricultural Industry Development and Environment Committee with the report tabled in Queensland Parliament on 28 August 2020.
The government has three months to respond to the report’s recommendations. QHA will keep members informed of the progress and any implementation dates.
