After many years of service to the hotel industry and the Queensland Hotels Association, Tom McGuire AM has resigned from his position as President of the QHA. As many of you will know, Tom began his tenure as President in 2006 however had been actively involved with the QHA for decades before. During his time as QHA President, Tom also served several terms as the National President of the Australian Hotels Association. We thank Tom for his contribution and dedication to improving the industry and protecting our members. With an extraordinary gift to engage members throughout Australia, Tom was equally able to advocate for their well-being with every Government or regulator he dealt with. The Queensland hotel industry is stronger for having Tom McGuire lead us for so long, and the QHA thank him for all his efforts.

As the QHA must always have a President, according to our Rules of Association (our Constitution) the Senior Vice-President of the QHA assumes the role of President until the next scheduled election. As such, the QHA would also like to congratulate Richard Deery, former Senior-Vice President of QHA and owner of the Story Bridge Hotel, on his new appointment as President of the QHA. The future of our industry is in good hands with Richard and the QHA State Board ready to take on 2023 and beyond.
