QHA members should note that this year the four days between Saturday 25 December 2021 and Tuesday 28 December 2021 are public holidays.

This is because the Holidays Act 1983 (Qld) provides that when Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day falls on a weekend there is an extra public holiday.

This year because Christmas Day and Boxing Day both fall on the weekend, Monday 27 December 2021 and Tuesday 28 December 2021 are also public holidays, resulting in 4 consecutive public holidays falling between Saturday 25 December 2021 and Tuesday 28 December 2021. A copy of the QHA’s 2021 Public Holiday Fact Sheet can be downloaded HERE.  Member are also reminded that a part-day public holidays is observed between 6pm and Midnight on Christmas Eve (24 December).

In 2022, New Year’s Day falls on the weekend. This means that both Saturday 1 January 2022 and Monday 3 January 2022 will be public holidays.

The QHA's 2022 Public Holidays Fact Sheet can be downloaded HERE. The Fact Sheet is also available to download from the QHA website.
