Perfected by tender steak, crusty bread, and a cold beer, Queenslanders love a steak sanger. You could even say it’s the heart and soul of every pub menu, whether it be a watering hole out west or a bustling, inner-city local.
Our chefs create and innovate this beloved staple with some of the world’s best quality beef on hand, produced right here in Australia. In celebration of this, we’re excited to announce that the QHA is partnering with Beef Australia this year to pit pub against pub in the ultimate steak sandwich competition.
Beef Week has grown to become our cattle industry’s national exhibition. Taking place next year in May, the weeklong event exists for the advancement of the Australian beef community while promoting and celebrating a sustainable industry.
In the name of friendly competition and bringing more awareness to this great cause, we’re incredibly excited to see the creativity and skill behind the submissions for Queensland’s Best Steak Sandwich Competition.
Judging & Nomination Criteria
To be eligible, the steak sandwich must be available on the menu for the duration of the competition period and feature beef as the primary protein.
Finalists will be judged on the following criteria: tenderness of the beef, overall composition and presentation, originality and creativity, quality of accompanying chips and sauces, overall flavour, and value for money.
