On 2 June 2026, the Fair Work Commission handed down its Annual Wage Review Decision (Decision) for 2026.
The QHA can advise that a wage increase of 4.75% will apply to modern award wages and to the National Minimum Wage (NMW). Additional increases will apply to the lowest award classifications known as the C13 (Level 1) and C14 (Introduction) rates.
The National Minimum Wage will increase to $1,004.90 per week or $26.44 per hour.
When does the increase take effect?
The increase takes effect from the first full pay period that commences on or after 1 July 2026 (i.e. the first day of the pay period).
Where an employer’s pay period commences prior to 1 July, for example, on 29 June 2026, the increase will not affect wages until the next pay cycle.
If your pay period starts on 1 July, or after that date, the award wage increase will apply to that pay period.
As a reminder, same pay super rules also take effect from 1 July 2026.
