Eden Brewhouse is a love story between beer, rustic smokehouse cuisine, and hearty fare.

But most importantly, it is also one of the venues proudly championing Australia’s craft beer industry at a time when it needs it the most.

With so many independent breweries falling on hard times due to surging freight and ingredient costs, skill shortages, and an alcohol excise tax that does not seem to be letting up anytime soon, pubs like Eden Brewhouse are vital when it comes to introducing more Queenslanders to the world of craft beer and keeping the industry alive and well.

Manager at the venue, Alex Protani, said their incredibly extensive collection of craft beer is also accompanied by a great wine selection and a full range of spirits, many of which are sourced from independent wineries and distillers.

“We have a seasonal menu that features pub classics and a large outdoor smoker that adds to the Eden Brewhouse experience.

“Our signature smoked meat specials are best enjoyed with a brew or two. Everything we do, we do to support and complement the craft beer industry,” he said.

Conveniently located in the heart of the Redbank Plains, the venue boasts more than 56 taps with a great selection of craft brews, including those from their partners at Esker Beer Co.

Previously known as the Australian Brewery, the brand is one of Sydney’s most longstanding craft breweries and was the first to use cans instead of bottles back in the day.

Alex said offering versatile spaces for group bookings, events, and special occasions is one of the best ways to introduce independent beer brands to a lot of people who may have never been exposed to Australia’s colourful craft beer varieties.

“Our function rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and ideal for corporate gatherings, while our terrace boasts lush greenery and charming fairy lights, creating a delightful atmosphere for drinks, celebrations, and parties.

“As a traditional pub, we also pride ourselves on serving our community with a variety of entertainment options. From trivia nights and live music to other engaging activities, there is always something happening here.

“Our weekly menu specials are a highlight, and for sports enthusiasts, there is no better spot to catch live games,” he said.

Eden Brewhouse opened in June 2020 as a cheerful tribute to the characters who moulded the Aussie spirit and our country’s passion for pubs. The venue shares its name with the first farm in the region, Eden Station, which was pioneered by British convict and the father of Redbank Plains, James Josey.

In 1840, James was convicted for robbing a wagon and sentenced to 15 years of penal servitude. He travelled on a convict ship named Eden and was sent to Moreton Bay in April 1841.

After serving out his sentence in Limestone (now known as Ipswich), James was involved in building houses before he purchased the land which would become known as Eden Station.

Alex said the story of this pioneer is reflected in the scratchboard illustrations ingrained in their brand identity and scattered throughout their venue.

“The traditional design of the venue is a nod to the public houses of British origin, while our selection of craft beers and rustic smokehouse dishes are inspired by the pioneering days of rural living and handcraftsmanship.

“We are a beloved community pub, welcoming locals, regulars, and visitors alike who enjoy our friendly atmosphere and great hospitality,” he said.

As part of their commitment to supporting businesses within their community, Eden Brewhouse also takes pride in featuring brews from their local craft partner Green Beacon – one of the frontrunners of Brisbane’s craft beer scene founded in Teneriffe and inspired by the tranquillity of Moreton Island.

Alex said they understand the importance of promoting quality, artisan products like craft beer in their venue, as not only do they meet the diverse needs of their community, but they also make Australian hospitality the flavourful, good-humoured, and unique industry that it is.

“Bringing people together to share good times is at the heart of what we do. With so many taps available, our pub acts as a hub for craft beer enthusiasts in the community, and we are very proud of that.

“We strive to cater for a varied range of tastes while supporting an industry that supports us,” he said.
