Sexual Harassment Prevention Plan

Sexual Harassment Prevention Plan

From 1 March 2025, all Queensland employers must prepare and implement a prevention plan to manage identified risks to the health and safety of workers from sexual harassment and sex or gender-based harassment at work.

The prevention plan must state the identified risk of sexual harassment, identify the control measures implemented, or to be implemented, to manage each identified risk and set out the procedure for dealing with reports of sexual harassment and sex or gender-based harassment at work. The plan must also set out how workers are made aware of the plan and how to access it (e.g. by emailing around a copy and having a physical copy printed out in the staff area).

Inspectors are starting to ask Queensland businesses for a copy of their plans and if one cannot be produced, are issuing on the spot fines.

If you don’t already have a Prevention Plan in place in your business, please contact the QHA’s Employment Relations Department at your earliest convenience by emailing er@qha.org.au or calling 07 3221 6999.
