QLD Energy Deal for QHA Members

QLD Energy Deal for QHA Members

21/10/24

In an environment of significantly increased electricity prices, QHA is excited to offer a long-term electricity offer to QHA members to help reduce power prices, provide long term energy certainty and support development of renewable energy.

Thank you to those who have expressed their interest in the Power Purchasing Agreement (PPA). It is terrific to see members benefitting from the initiative and successfully completing their PPAs.

A reminder that, if you would like to participate and commence from 1 January 2025, you need to apply with your supporting documentation by Wednesday, 30th October. If your current contract ends after 1 January 2025, you will be able to join at a later date.

Please ensure you submit both a recent electricity bill and the completed procurement form (attached – link to) to communications@qha.org.au.

See offer summary and FAQs below:

QHA OFFER:

Details of the Offer: You will be quoted a flat electricity rate (same rate for peak, shoulder and off-peak) with a 3% annual escalation. A 6-year Retail PPA provides Iberdrola with a known framework for pricing and supply of electricity and in turn enables them to offer prices around or below the current wholesale price.

Term: The PPA offer is for 6 years, commencing on 1 January 2025, running until 31 December 2030. Members can join the PPA at a future date if their existing contract expires after the start date.

Renewable: Members can choose to ‘opt in’ for their energy to be 100% renewable, meaning you can purchase and surrender LGCs for your full electricity consumption. This option will provide a discounted cost to purchasing LGCs and is a great option for hotels wanting to promote their green credentials.

Eligibility: The offer is available to all current QHA members in QLD who meet Iberdrola Australia’s onboarding criteria with a load greater than 150MWh/annum.

FAQs:

  • What is the LGC?
The LGCs is the LRET line item under the Environmental Charges section. $28.41 per certificate equates to 0.5c/kwh on your bill as the LRET charge.
  • What can be included in the PPA?
All premises related to the business can be included for example, bottle shops, storage sheds, small shopping precincts etc.

See the PPA Brochure attached for more.
