Richard’s family has called the Story Bridge Hotel in Kangaroo Point home for more than 50 years. Richard is a several-generation hotelier and during his time as Owner/manager of the pub, has taken the village local to a multifaceted food and beverage operation. Recently the Deery’s have expanded their portfolio to include the Woodford Hotel and in partnership with Scott Armstrong, the Baringa Tavern at Caloundra.   Richard’s passion has always been hospitality and he enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience within his role at the QHA.

Bernie joined QHA in 2016 having enjoyed a career in advocacy, media and a little bit of government, but started as many of us, as a barman in a pub. He is passionate about defending our industry and the people within it, as the entrepreneurial, job-creating, music-loving and entertaining hubs of our communities.

A passionate industry advocate, Matt is privileged to assist the QHA continue its role in ensuring “the pub” remains a cornerstone of the social fabric of the community.  Matt’s career has seen him work for his family regionally, to Brisbane and now, Hope Island. This experience, along with continuously networking with hotel peers and suppliers, allows him to maintain a broad scope of understanding regarding the issues and challenges facing our industry.

A born & bred publican, Brad has been at the helm of iconic regional hotel, Fitzy’s Toowoomba for 20 years. Brad has a passion for all things hospitality with a big-picture vision for the industry in Queensland. He is actively involved in local liquor accords and heads Toowoomba’s SNP chapter. The Fitzgibbons have a rich hospitality history with five generations in the industry.
