Message to all QHA Members and Partners from Bernie Hogan, QHA Chief Executive
Dear Members,
It is that dreaded time of year again when the never-ending hidden tax of excise is about to imposed on all members of our industry. We at the QHA have asked repeatedly of all Governments to amend excise that is a direct tax on socialising.
We would like for all members to join us in letting Government and the candidates for the upcoming election know, that enough is enough.
With the increased pressure from cost of living crisis being felt right across Queensland we are asking Government to discount or freeze excise for all products served on-premise (not through retail).
This supports our patrons with a breather from ongoing price rises, supports employment through every part of the hotel and hospitality sector and sends a message that Australians should be able to spend time together.
When times are tough, we suggest that it is better to bring communities together not take more from their wallets and drive them away from socialising.
Please feel free to use these images on your socials, print them out and put them in you venues.
Use my words in the press release or use your own – and if you know them, tag your local member or candidate or the Treasurer (who is from Queensland) or even the PM.
Please use the following resources:
- Press release from QHA regarding the tax increase (excise) on alcohol
- Low res versions of the posters that can be used online for them to post on their socials
- Posters about the tax they can use in venue
Our goal is to not let this tax go unabated for another year, and we need members to get it out amongst the voters at a Federal Election is due before May.
Thanks for your support, and we hope to see plenty of you help the campaign.
If you need assistance, as always please call the QHA on 07 3221 6999.
Bernie Hogan
