Hotel Licensees throughout Queensland have shown themselves to be resilient and resourceful in dealing with the impacts of COVID-19.

They’ve shown great adaptability in the way they manage social distancing to keep their customers and the wider public safe.

I’m continually impressed by the willingness of peak industry bodies including the QHA, their licensees and staff to work with government and this includes the way they’ve embraced our “Spread the word, not the virus” campaign.

As its name suggests, this Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation social media campaign aims to create greater awareness of the new operating environment pubs and hotels now face.

Posts started rolling out late last month on the OLGR Facebook page (facebook.com/qldolgr), on topics such as, checklists and plans, physical distancing, patron limits and waiting in lines, right to reuse, and keeping contact details.

I encourage all licensees to look out for content with the ‘Spread the word, not the virus’ icon. Feel free to like and even better, share on your own pages.

I thank all Queensland hotels for playing their role in ensuring our state has stayed on track throughout each stage, both economically and in helping to stop the spread of this virus.

Stay safe.
