Not receiving the ER Bulletin, and want to sign up?

The ER Bulletin is a semi-regular electronic publication of the ER Department for members and their designated ER contacts.  It provides timely and relevant articles regarding many ER issues our members face on a daily basis, topical precedent cases and other helpful and useful ER information.

If you aren’t already receiving the ER Bulletin (and you are an approved ER contact for your venue), you can request to be added to the ER bulletin by contacting the QHA on 07 3221 6999 or by emailing

Collective Agreement Rates

For those members with existing Collective Agreements, or other formally ratified workplace agreements, (collectively referred to as ‘Agreement’) the increases to wage rates to the corresponding award relevant to the Agreement will also apply to you.

This is due to the operation of section 206 in the Fair Work Act 2009 (the ‘Act’). This section of the Act provides that while an Agreement applies to an employee as the terms and conditions industrial instrument, where a modern award covers an employee’s position, the Agreement rates must stay in line with the corresponding rates of pay in the award.

For this reason, members with Agreements in place at their workplace must increase their Agreement base wages to ensure they are at least the same as the award rates.

My Agreement refers to a number of modern awards

It will be important to check when the relevant award rates increase by 1.75% to ensure that the Agreement rates increase accordingly. If you are unsure, please contact the ER Department to discuss.

Updated Wage Sheets for Agreements

Where the QHA has drafted your Agreement, we can update your wage schedules for a nominal fee of $320.00 inc GST- this includes up to 5 wage schedules. A higher fee will apply for a larger number of wage schedules.

For Agreements drafted by an external party, the QHA can assist you to update your wage schedules. Please contact the Department for more information and an estimate of fees.
