Late last year we introduced the delivery of Responsible Management of Licensed Venues (RMLV) and Gaming Nominee Training (GNT) by video conferencing means, called Video Connect. This was to allow remotely located hotel staff or those unable to travel to a training venue, to undertake these mandatory courses and gain certification, or recertification as the case may be.

At present, video conferencing is the only way we are delivering QHA RMLV and GNT, due to the COVID-19 emergency. This way of conducting training has been going well as QHA industry trainers and indeed, hotel licensees and staff, get used to presenting or receiving training in this manner. We are using the Zoom video conferencing service which appears the most appropriate. It’s fairly easy to work with Zoom, even if you have little computer knowledge, so don’t be put off by the technology – we can help you connect if required.

These courses are the same as our industry trainers deliver in the classroom. The upcoming Video Connects are outlined in this issue. As we get closer to reopening our venues, more Video Connects will be added and we’ll also restart face-to-face training.

Remembering with Video Connect you will need:

  • A reliable internet connection.
  • Preferably a PC or laptop (or tablet/ipad) with an inbuilt webcam, or an external webcam.
  • A microphone and/or headset as you will be actively participating in a classroom environment, as you would do now.

Note: iPhones can be used but there may be difficulties when we electronically send attendees manuals, handouts and assessments.
