When you must scan IDs

Licensed venues within a Safe Night Precinct (SNP) must scan IDs from 10pm if you are authorised to sell alcohol after midnight on the following days:

  • Friday
  • Saturday
  • Sunday
  • the day before a public holiday.

For example, if Friday is a public holiday, you are required to scan patrons from 10pm on the Thursday evening before the public holiday if you are authorised to sell alcohol after midnight in that trading period. Note that this applies even if you stop selling alcohol before midnight.

The following SNP’s will have to scan on Thursday night (13th August) from 10pm as Friday is a declared Public Holiday (Show holiday – People’s long weekend) by their local councils:

  • Brisbane
  • Fortitude Valley
  • Inner West (Caxton)
  • Gold Coast
  • Broadbeach
  • Mackay
  • Rockhampton
