As we look ahead to employment relations priorities for 2026, it is more important than ever for businesses to ensure full compliance with employee record and pay slip requirements.
Accurate and up to date employee records are essential to meeting obligations under the Fair Work Regulations. Proper record keeping not only helps employers avoid legal and compliance risks, but also provides critical support in defending wage underpayment claims. Additionally, accurate record keeping is vital for passing inspections conducted by the Fair Work Ombudsman, Australian Taxation Office and Australian Border Force.
We understand that inspections may take place in early 2026 across the South East Queensland region. To assist members in preparing, the QHA has developed a Guide to self-auditing your employee records designed to help you identify and address potential compliance issues before an inspection occurs.
Members are strongly encouraged to begin a self-audit by using this Guide to spot-check your records and ensure ongoing compliance.
If you require assistance with your audit, or if you have any questions or concerns about your employee record and pay slip requirements, please contact the QHA’s Employment Relations Department at your earliest convenience by emailing er@qha.org.au or calling 07 3221 6999.
