Dear Members,

This week we have been working closely with Queensland’s Premier, Chief Health Officer, and various Ministers and Commissioners across tourism, treasury and liquor licensing.

We are pleased to advise that QHA submitted our Industry COVID Safe Plan last Friday which, once approved, will underpin the ability for you to re-open with greater patron numbers for STAGE 2 trading from 12 June. We have sought approval for you to utilise separate areas within your venues and offer other products in addition to dining. Details are still to be confirmed and we expect an announcement from the Premier this Sunday. The QHA will provide members with all the necessary information and template documents for your STAGE 2 trading options when clarified.

In the meantime, I am happy to advise that effective immediately, patrons can be served liquor without having a meal. In Stage 1, this means within your 10 patron (or 20 for Outback venues) limit, that seated drinking without food in the dining area is allowed.

Please join me and the QHA staff for a QHA Members Meeting via Zoom on Monday, 1 June 3.00-4.00pm.

I look forward to seeing you then and providing you with the latest updates for the re-opening and recovery of our industry.

Cheers,

Bernie.
