Extraordinary Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants
South East Queensland Rainfall and Flooding, 22 February - 7 March 2022
Small business
The maximum grant amount is $50,000 and is available through two applications:
- An initial amount of up to $15,000 is available to support an initial claim. Evidence of the direct damage such as photographs, quotations, tax invoices and official receipts is required.
- A subsequent amount of up to $35,000 is available to support subsequent claims for which full evidence of payment is required.
Eligible activities
- Equipment and materials to undertake clean-up
- Additional labour costs (above and beyond normal wage expenditure i.e. day-to-day staffing)
- Disposing of damaged goods and stock, including associated costs
- Repairs to buildings (other than housing)
- Reconditioning/ repairing essential plant and equipment
- Purchase or hire/ lease costs for equipment essential to the immediate resumption of the business
- Payment for tradespeople to conduct safety inspections
- Essential repairs to premises and internal fittings that is not covered by insurance.
Disaster Assistance Loans

Small business
Disaster Assistance Loans of up to $250,000 are provided to assist small businesses to re-establish the normal operations of their business by covering costs such as:
- repairing or replacing damaged plant and equipment
- meeting carry-on requirements including:
- re-planting, restoring or re-establishing areas affected by the disaster event
- sustenance
- essential property operations
- paying rent and rates
Disaster Assistance (Essential Working Capital) Loans

Small business
Disaster Assistance (essential Working Capital) Loans are provided to assist with?essential working capital for expenses such as:
- paying salaries or wages
- paying creditors
- paying rent or rates
- buying goods, including for example, fuel essential to carry-on the business or organisation
This support is being made available through the Australian and Queensland Government’s jointly-funded Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
