Hello Brisbane and Redlands Gaming Venues,

Thank you all for your support of the recent trial of delivering training across Brisbane and Redlands.  Due to the success, the Brisbane and Redlands Gambling Help Service are pleased to let you know the following upcoming dates for Gaming Venue Staff Training.

We thank our partners in advance for this support.  Training places are available on these following dates 20 September Everton Park Hotel, 19 October Capalaba Sports Club, 24 October Blu Fin Fishing Club, Inala and 8 November at QHA House, Level 2, 160 Edward Street in the CBD.

Training will commence 8.30 am sharp at each venue and each training is 2 hours long with an expected finish time of 10.30 am.  A link is at the bottom of this message to register you and other staff.

  • Gambling Help Service – What we do and how we can help
  • Identifying Behaviours and Signs of Problem Gambling
  • Increased Risk for Gambling Venue Staff – Risks and Protective factors
  • How to help the family members and support persons of a Problem Gambler
  • Available resources to assist staff.

Who should attend this training

With new gaming audits now in place from the Office of Liquor and Gaming regulation it is important that Receptions/ Concierge staff, Gaming Staff, Duty Managers, Venue Manager, Board members and owners develop a relationship with their local Gambling Help Service.  All are welcome to come and learn how to identify people with a poor relationship to gambling.

This training takes around two hours to deliver and upon completion each staff member will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

This training is not only for gaming staff but for duty managers and senior manager as well as Board Members.  Please note this training is free of charge to all participants.
