The Tourism Industry Reference Panel has released Towards 2032 – Reshaping Queensland’s visitor economy to welcome the world.

After more than a year of engagement with Queensland’s tourism industry, this Final Action Plan makes 75 recommendations to reshape Queensland’s visitor economy. It goes beyond recovery – it’s the long-term blueprint for Queensland’s visitor economy success.

The DTIS has released an Interim Queensland Government Response to the Final Action Plan, and will now move to consider the recommendations and work with industry to develop the Queensland Government’s longer-term strategy. You can find out more on the website.

The industry’s recovery is already well underway with the excellent news last week that Queensland claimed the crown as Australia’s tourism capital – taking the crown from NSW for the first time.

And Queenslanders out-spent interstate travellers by 178% for a total Queensland dividend of $17.8 billion, up 48% on the previous year. This is a huge vote of confidence for visitors and our state’s tourism operators.
